Kilbrittain Premier Intermediate hurlers advanced to the quarter-final with a ground out victory over Valley Rovers on Sunday in Kinsale. Ahead 1-6 to 0-8 at half-time, the goal coming from Cian O'Leary in the 13th minute. This was to prove a crucial score as both teams struggled to find the target at various stages of the game. Valleys inability to convert was noticeable as they clocked up 14 wides in total with ten in the second half. Kilbrittain didn't point from play until Pat O'Mahony converted in the 18th minute. This added to a Jamie Wall free put Kilbrittain 1-8 to 0-9 up entering the last ten minutes. Wall pointed his 7th score, his first from play two minutes later from the tightest of angles following a crossfield sideline cut from David Desmond. Valleys clocked up 5 wides in the final ten minutes with the Kilbrittain backs performing heroics, before Maurice Sexton pointed in injury time to give Kilbrittain a three point cushion.
