Best of luck to Ellen Murphy, solo singing, and Aoife Ahern, solo instrumental, who are through to Scór na bPáistí final in Ovens on March 11th.

The Scor Sinsear quiz team took part in the county finals in Ovens on Thursday 12th March. Once again Milstreet emerged the winners with an impressive 69/80, well ahead of their nearest challengers on 60/80. Kilbrittain performed reasonably well over the ten rounds of 8 questions.

The Scor na bPaisti Ballad group of Fionnuala Gillian, Olivia Tuthill, Katie Murphy and Ellen Murphy were successful last Sunday evening in Ballydehob winning their competition. They now go forward to the County finals in Ovens in March.

Best of luck to the Scor na bPaisti Ballad group of Fionnuala Gillian, Olivia Tuthill, Katie Murphy and Ellen Murphy who having qualified from the semi-finals last weekend, go forward to represent the club in the Carbery finals in Ballydehob on Sunday next 15th February.

Scor na bPaisti 2015
There will be 2 divisional semi-finals for Scor na bPaisti Roinn Cairbre. On Sunday 1st February the first semi-final will take place in Ballydehob.
The 2nd semi-final will take place on Sunday 8th February in St Marys theatre Rossmore at 2pm.
The Carbery final will take place the following week 15th February in Ballydehob.
Kilbrittain will participate on Sunday 8th in Rossmore along with Ross Ladies football, Dohenys, Kilbree/Kilmeen hurling and football clubs, Bandon, Newcestown hurling, football and camoige clubs, St James, Diarmuid O'Mathunas and Clonakilty.
Competitions will include:
Rince Foirne(Figure Dancing), Amhranaiocht Aonair (Solo Singing), Ceol uirlise (instrumental music), Bun Ghrad Reel (Solo Dance), Aithriseoireacht/Scealaoicht (Recitation/Storytelling) Ceoil Aonair (Solo Music), Traditional Sean Nos Dance, Bailead Ghrupa (ballad Group), Trath na gCeisteanna (Quiz), Leiriu (Drama), Rince Seit (set Dancing).
Attention must be drawn to the following rules governing the Solo Dance and the New competition of Traditional Sean Nos Dance:
The Bun Ghrad Reel is confined to competitors who have never previously won1st place or have been graded out for the dance specified for that competition.
Dancers must perform basic material only.
Dancers may dance in the Rince Foirne competition if they wish.
Traditional style Sean Nos Dance - Each competitor shall perform a routine jig, reel or hornpipe in Sean Nos
mode not lasting more than three minutes. No tips or built up shoes allowed. No props of any kind allowed Each competitor is responsible for providing their own music. The adjudicators decision is final.
In Solo Singing: a competitor may only accompany themselves with a single instrument (piano or keyboard not allowed). No accompaniment allowed side stage or off-stage.
In Recitation/storytelling: backing accompaniment is allowed off-stage.
Leiriu is the new title of the Novelty Act. Drama including comedy (of an appropriate nature), live music, singing and dance, are encouraged. It can depict an event from the History or Mythology of Ireland or the history or mythology of the country of birth/origin of members of the cast. Hand held props only- defined as an object carried on stage by hand by a performer. One item of electrical/battery operated equipment other than the amplification provided, shall be allowed. Each contribution must take not more than 12 minutes including setting up and removal of props.
The Quiz this year will comprise a team or 3 or 4 (awaiting confirmation of the number). Where a club has more than one affiliation (hurling, football, camoige, ladies football), entries are accepted for each affiliation. However there cannot be any cross-over from one club to another.
Primary schools in Carbery Division may also enter Scor na bPaisti Competitions.
All participants must have their registered number and make it available on the entry forms or on the day of competition
