The new pitch in Clashavanna, has recently been fenced. Following this, and with good grass growth recently, The Intermediate hurlers have trained there recently and the first game was held there last Saturday evening. The Intermediate hurlers played a practice game against Tracton. While the result didn't go Kilbrittains way, the first score, a point and the first goal both came from Kilbrittain players! And on a night of firsts, the first car windscreen was also broken! (all be it a back window!!) The focus now must turn to completing the project with a building and changing facilities. The Junior A footballers made their way safely into the third round following a comprehensive win over Dohenys on Saturday evening in Newcestown. Kilbrittain dominated from the start and following a Noel Griffen goal, lead at the break 1-7 to 0-1. Kilbrittain's dominance almost kept Dohenys scoreless in the first half as their point came in the first minute of injury time at the end of the half. Three second half goals put the game well beyond the Dunmanway side. Two from Substitute Conor O'Donovan and the third from Declan Harrington put the score 4-8 to 0-7 at the end.
Best of luck to the Junior A footballers who meet Dohenys in the first round of the championship today in Newcestown at 7;30pm.
Dohenys were the team to beat Kilbrittain and ensure relegation to Junior B grade a few years ago. Kilbrittain start this years campaign as Junior B county winners 2016.
