Senior Football Championship
Carbery 4-14 Seandun 0-10
As expected, Carbery booked their place in the last 16 of the Cork SFC with 16 points to spare over Seandun at Kilmichael. Though their city rivals grabbed the first two points of the game, once Carbery found traction in attack they met with little resistance, cruising to a 13-point half-time advantage.
The attacking tandem of Ruairí Deane and Colm O’Driscoll in the Carbery full-forward line yielded rich rewards as they combined for 4-3, with O’Driscoll plundering a hat-trick of goals.
O’Driscoll scored the first and third goals as they upped the tempo towards the end of the first half, with Deane’s effort in between.
Before that, Seandun had shown signs, with Conor Buckley and Paul Condon pointing early on while Carbery full-back Owen Sexton had to defend well to deny Condon a goalscoring chance.
They would not score again in the first half, though, as Carbery turned with a 3-6 to 0-2 lead. While Eoghan Buckley opened the second-half scoring for Seandun, Carbery always ensured they did enough.
O’Driscoll added his third and his side’s fourth goal on 47, palming in from Deane’s handpass. Prior to that, O’Driscoll had only been denied by a fine Anthony Kidney save after Deane had picked him out. Condon and Eoghan Buckley did get some late points to redress the scoring balance somewhat, but Carbery added scores through sub Richard O’Sullivan and Deane. With Brian O’Driscoll, Rory O’Sullivan and James O’Donovan to come back into the reckoning, they will certainly be contenders by the time the fourth round approaches.
Scorers for Carbery: C O’Driscoll 3-1, R Deane 1-2, M Sugrue 0-4 (one 45, one free), D Barron 0-3 (two frees), P Daly, A O’Connor, S O’Neill, R O’Sullivan 0-1 each.

Kilbrittain 2-5 St Colums 0-12
Kilbrittain Junior footballers almost caused an early upset in the Rowa/Rowex Pharma sponsored Junior A Football championship when they pushed the reigning champions all the way in the first round in Castlehaven. Two wides in the 27th and 28th minutes stopped the St Colums momentum and Kilbrittain now managed to break upfield. With time running out, Kilbrittain put on the pressure and Wall pointed twice in the 29th and 31st minutes to reduce the lead to the minimum. Avondu fought back with points from Kevin Sheehan 2, Jeff Daly, Shane Beston and Dave Pyne. They were three points down approaching halftime and were just a point behind at the break following a goal in injury time from Paul O'Flynn to make the halftime score Carbery 1-7 Avondhu 1-6.
Within ten minutes of the restart, Carbery had increased their lead to six following points from Sugrue, Alan O'Connor, Richard O'Sulliavn and Colm O'Driscoll. Avondhu sub Andrew O'Brien pointed with his first touch after being introduced but they were finding it difficult to find the scores as the Carbery defence well marshalled by Owen Sexton, closed them down giving little or no room to shoot. Sugrue pointed twice at the other end to keep the six point gap. Shane Cahill and Kevin Sheehan had two points for Avondhu but Sugrue had the last say of the game with three more points to leave it Carbery 1-16 Avondhu 1-9 at the final whistle.

U21 C Football championship Semi-Final
Kilbrittain 2-08 St Marys 0-3
The U21 C footballers continue their run in the championship with this semi-final win over St Marys in Ballinascarthy. The final score probably does a dis-service to the Ballineen Enniskeane side as they were the better team during the first half and if they had converted half of their thirteen wides over the hour, it would have been a different story. Kilbrittain can thank Josh O'Donovan for keeping them in touch in the first half with a goal in the fourth minute and his second four minutes to halftime to give Kilbrittain a flattering 2-1 to 0-3 halftime lead. St Marys had the better of the exchanges in the opening half and with points in the second and sixth minutes were well in touch in the opening stages. They had clocked up six wides by the time of O'Donovans second goal. The goal was well worked as a long pass from Nick O'Donovan found Declan Harrington down the right wing, Declan cut inside and drawing the tacklers, gave a lovely pass to O'Donovan at the edge of the square and he made no mistake. Kilbrittain needed this score as with limited chances, just two wides, they were happy and relieved to be ahead at the break.
The second half had Kilbrittain playing against the fall of ground, and straight from the throw in, Eamon Lyons pointed , Chris Hickey added another a minute later and Patrick O'Mahony had a chance before St Marys settled. Bad finishing denied St Marys a score in the fifth minute and this was to be their last chance for the next fifteen minutes as Kilbrittain showed the form that has brought them through group 2. A couple of missed chances later and a good save from the St Marys goalkeeper Graham Jackson, denied Declan Harrington. Chris Hickey responded with a point a minute later. Patrick O'Mahony followed with a fine point before Hickey had another by the quarter hour. Kilbrittain were well in control at this stage and good defensive work from Kevin O'Neill and Sean Crowley kept St Marys at bay on several occasions. Patrick O'Mahony pointed in the twentyfirst minute and Josh O'Donovan did likewise a minute later. As time ran out for the saints, they did press hard for a score in the dying minutes as Kilbrittain emptied the subs bench. But again their shooting let them down and three wides in the last five minutes added to their woe.
Final score Kilbrittain 2-8 St Marys 0-3
Team: Lloyd McSweeney, Sean Crowley, Ronan Sheehan, Conor Crowley, Kevin O'Neill, Eamon Lyons 0-1, Nick O'Donovan, Chris Hickey 0-3, Ryan Crowley, Patrick O'Mahony 0-2, Josh O'Donovan 2-2, Declan Harrington. Subs used: Darragh Hayes, Evan O'Donovan, Denis Collins, Gearoid Whelton.
