Update
The pitch is now complete, having been fenced in recent weeks. Credit is due to the hard working behind the scenes committee for overseeing the project to date. The pitch is now the second playing field in the community and takes the pressure off everyone as regards use of a pitch. The focus now turns to dressing rooms and other facilities. We look forward to the completed project in the coming months.

Official turning of the Sod
"It was a momentous occasion for Kilbrittain GAA club on Saturday 5th September under glorious sunshine as club president John Madden performed the official sod turning at the new pitch development site located at Sand Cross.
The occasion was attended by vice presidents Frank O'Brien, Liam Ryan and Mikey Hayes. Adult club and under-age officials were also present along with members of the 'Field' committee, PP Fr Cremin, local Garda John McCarthy, 'Mayor' Eily Hayes, player representatives and parishoners. It was an historic occasion for the club following a number of years of hard work by club officers, field and grant committees and ticket sellers. Following a long planning process and fundraising campaign, the project received grant funding from the Sport Capital Grant in 2014 and in accordance with criteria and conditions, the excavation of the site begun recently much to the delight of everyone involved. The first phase, which is being carried out by Kelly Bro's, is for the development of a full size playing pitch, ancillary fixtures and fittings and associated site works. The new Pitch is expected to be completed by 2016 and playable by early 2017.
The club now look forward to this new beginning and would like to thank all who have supported the project from the outset, those who have helped out in any way, on committees, selling draw tickets and those people from all over cork county who bought tickets for last Octobers draw.
