Are you aged between 18 and 21??? Passionate about the GAA??? We are seeking three delegates to attend the GAA's Youth Forum in Croke Park on March 2nd, hosted by Uachtarán Liam Ó Néill - this is your opportunity to make a contribution! Full details have been sent to every club, and if you want to avail of this fantastic opportunity, contact your club secretary without delay! NB: Male and female delegates are required Well done to those who took part in Scór Sinsear county semi-final last night in Eire Og pavilliion, Ovens. The club took part in Insrumemtal music, and Quiz.
Declan Flynn and James moloney performed very well, with Declan on the banjo and James on guitar. This was their first time participating in this kind of environment as they are more used to playing in a session type setting. However the experience will stand to them and we hope to see them available again for next years competition. The quiz team consisted of Oliver O'Brien, Niall Crowley and Ted Moloney. The team on paper looked very experienced in competitive quizzing, however, the questions did not fall right for the lads and while they knew answers to the other teams questions, the majority of questions that fell their way were very difficult in comparison! Despite not qualifying for the county final, it was good to see the club participating in Scór Sinsear again after many years. Well done to all and thanks to our Cultural Officer, Noreen O'Brien for all her good work in getting the club back onto the Scór scene. The next event to look forward to is the Carbery final of Scór na bPáistí when our Ballad group are performing. The U21 footballers made their exit from the Glenville tournament yesterday as they were defeated by Ilen Rovers at Harbourview. Ilen proved too strong for a depleted Kilbrittain outfit. Ilen did most of the damage in the first half when they built up a fair lead at halftime. Kilbrittain struggled to get scores throughout. It ended Kilbrittain 1-4 Ilen Rovers 2-13. While it was a disappointing result, it was a good tournament for Kilbrittain getting four games out of it and meeting such teams as Macroom, Whitescross, Bantry and Ilen Rovers, teams they would not normally meet in championship football at this level. Beating Whitescross and Bantry were the highlights in this tournament which will serve as huge preparation for their first round championship against Gabrial Rangers

Cork chairman Bob Ryan is optimistic a new county sponsor will be announced in the coming weeks. He confirmed talks with prospective backers have progressed since the start of the month, when the footballers sported the Mercy Foundation logo on their jerseys for league matches. “We’re at a more advanced stage in negotiations,” he said. “They’re ongoing and I’d be confident we will be able to conclude them over the next few weeks.” Ryan would not say whether the hurlers will follow the example of the footballers and wear a charity logo for their league clash with Tipperary in Páirc Uí Rinn next Saturday week. Two years ago, Tipperary themselves did not announce their €600,000 three-year deal with Skoda until April despite it being understood for a couple of months that their previous deal with Enfer had come to an end. Cork’s footballers have worn the Mercy Foundation jersey for their opening two Division 1 games against Dublin and Kildare. Season tickets are now available to purchase form the West Cork Board.

Argideen opened the scoring with a point in the first minute. A Maurice Sexton pointed free opened the scoring for Kilbrittain closley followed by a fine point from Tomas Harrington. Argideen scored the next two to regain the lead before Ross Cashman equalised in the tenth minute. Argideen pointed a free almost immediately. The aforementioned Pat O'Mahony then goaled in the seventeenth minute to give Kilbrittain a lead they held to the break. Argideen were next to score before a purple patch from Kilbrittain saw Sexton score three points from frees and Cashman pointing before halftime. Argideen did have time for a point to leave the halftime score Kilbrittain 1-07 Argideen Rangers 0-6
Pat O'Mahony drew first blood after the re-start with a fine point after two minutes. Argideen pointed twice in as many minutes to reduce Kilbrittain's lead to three. In a frenetic few minutes, Sexton added a point from play, O'Mahony blasted wide from close range and at the other side Robert Hayes brought off a point blank save which resulted in a '65 which Argideen duly converted. They added a point moments later to reduce the deficit to two. Minutes later they regained the lead with a goal folowing a free dropped into the Kilbrittain danger area. Ross Cashman levelled matters a few minutes later with a free. Both sides swapped frees with six minutes left, Cashman doing the honours for Kilbrittain. Cian O'Leary pointed before Argideen had their last score of the game with four minutes left. This levelled the game again but Kilbrittain finished strong and two points from Tomas Harrington ended the scoring in a fine competitive sporting game.
