On Saturday evening last the Junior A hurlers met St Colums in the first round of the championship. Both teams met at the same stage last year and while Kilbrittain fielded an almost totally different team to last year, the result was similar with St Colums winning comfortably 1-18 to 0-10. With a number of retirees, a couple of lads travelling abroad, a couple transferred away and four lads doing the leaving certificate, the Junior A team struggled to field fifteen in league games and needed the help of both young and more experienced players to field a team on Saturday night. The club is grateful to theses guys and hope they will continue to help out for the remaining games for the year. The second round opponents will be St Marys who were beaten by Clonakilty recently.

The league campaign relied on players who eventually played intermediate championship last week, so they are stretched for numbers and experience this weekend. However, Kilbrittain have tradition and plenty ability to put it up to any team at this level and will give it their all on Saturday night. best of luck to all concerned. Ar Aghaigh le Cheile.
