Just on the stroke of half time Dohenys pointed from a free to leave the halftime score Kilbrittain 1-7 Dohenys 0-1.

U21 B Football semi-final Kilbrittain v Kilmacabea Sat 25-3-2017
Clona Milk Under 21B football Championship semi-final
Kilbrittain 1-07 Kilmacabea 2-22
A third minute penalty given away when Kilbrittain’s Bertie Butler was brought down as he bared down on goal, was the only blip in an otherwise flawless display by Kilmacabea as they comfortably made their way into the final of this Clona Milk sponsored under21 B football championship where they will meet Bandon. On a perfect day for football in Sunny Rosscarbery, Kilmacabea opened the scoring with a point from the impressive Damien Gore within the first minute. Cork minor Gore was a constant threat when he was in possession of the ball and would finish with a total of thirteen points to his name. A Kilmacabea goal from the boot of Ian Jennings made it 1-1 to no score after less than two minutes. The penalty for Kilbrittain was expertly finished to the net by Tomas Sheehan, and Josh O’Donovan added a point soon after to bring the sides level. Kilmacabea stepped up a gear then and registered six unanswered points from Eoin O’Sullivan, four from Gore and a lovely score from Dan Lynch to make it 1-7 to 1-1 by the quarter hour mark. O’Donovan added a point for Kilbrittain who were finding it difficult to breakdown the Kilmacabea defence where Seamus Murphy, Diarmuid O’Callaghan and Ellis Wilson excelled. A point from Kevin Whooley stretched the lead before a rasper of a shot from Jennings blazed across the goal to go wide on the far side. The hard working Dylan Twohig kicked over a fine point with ten minutes to the break but Kilmacabea were rampant now and kicked four more points in the last five minutes of normal time, Gore with three from frees and a fine point from Jennings. Eoin O’Sullivan added another in injury time and there was time for Josh O’Donovan to point from an acute angle, however this score was disputed and after consultation with the linesman and the umpires, referee John Forbes disallowed it to leave the score at halftime Kilmacabea 1-13 Kilbrittain 1-3.
Kilmacabea started the second half where they left off and Martin Collins opened the scoring with a point in the first minute. Patrick O’Mahony replied with free a minute later. Kilbrittain custodian Aaron Holland made a fine save moments later but could not prevent Kilmacabea’s second goal as a good attacking move ended with Gore giving a fine pass to the un-running Ellis Wilson who planted the ball in the back of the net. Patrick O’Mahony kicked over another free, Jennings and Gore replied for the Leap side. Bertie Butler looked dangerous when he had the ball in his hand and kicked a fine point on ten minutes but Kilbrittain were struggling to find any inroads and as in the first half, Kilmacabea upped the tempo with some fine flowing football registering the next six points, four from Gore and two from Jennings while keeping Kilbrittain scoreless for the remainder of normal time. Kilbrittain did move Morgan Madden into defence during the second half to try to curb the influence of man of the match Damien Gore, but he had the ability to bring other players into the game with Martin Collins and Niall Boukett both having fine games. James O’Donovan worked hard in defence for Kilbrittain where Madden improved that area when moved there. Bertie Butler and Josh O’Donovan looked dangerous on the ball but didn’t get enough supply, while Dylan Twohig and Philip Wall who scored a fine point in injury time, were others who worked very hard for Kilbrittain on a day when the Kilmacabea Steam Roller eased it’s way to the final. Final score Kilmacabea 2-22 Kilbrittain 1-7.
