The Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday night last in the community hall. A large crowd gathered and a good discussion was had on a number of topics ranging from activity on the playing field to fundraising. The detailed secretary report outlined the activities both on and off the field during the year culminating in the Junior B football county victory and the 'Clash of the Ash' fundraiser between Kilbrittain and Courcey Rovers in recent weeks. The treasurers report followed and outlined the importance of continued fundraising to help in the costs of the new development. It was explained that the club needs to continue a regular major fundraiser for the next few years to enable the development to proceed as planned. The Chairman congratulated all involved with the Junior B footballers and commended the minor hurling team on their success. He was loud in praise for the committee that organized 'The Clash without the Ash' and again urged members to support all fundraising efforts in order to bring the new development to fruition. At the election of officers, all sitting officers were returned with Barry O'Sullivan taking the position of President following John Madden who said he had been honored to hold the position for the last two years. Barry has had a life long association with the club as a player, coach and officer at various stages. He was Chairman from 1963 to '69 and also in 1981, Secretary in 1971, Vice Chairman in 1975. He was a delegate to the west cork board for a number of years from 1962 to 1974. He has held the position of vice president since 2007. He has also given huge commitment to the Camoige club for many years both as an officer, PRO and Secretary, and coach.
A long debate was held on whether to enter a third adult hurling team. It was decided to enter the team again for 2017 with certain conditions attached. All members were encouraged to continue to support the lotto (currently at €9,100), the county clubs draw, the National draw which will be rolled out early in the new year and to pay membership within the required timeframe. The deadline for membership being the 31st March 2017, with players expected to pay before games commence. Membership was kept at €70 for players and €50 for non playing members. The meeting was told the victory dinner dance will be held in Fernhill House hotel on March 4th.
