Cadbury's Munster U21 Football Championship Semi-Final

Cork 2-14 Limerick 0-11
Cork have qualified for the Munster U21 Football Final with a win over Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds last night. It was a game almost as notable for what Cork didn't score as for what they did score, with Limerick keeper James Brudair bringing off at least six point-blank saves. Limerick opened the scoring with a point from Peter Nash, but John O'Rourke quickly equalised. Cork soon asserted their dominance, and John O'Rourke's goal from a MacEoin delivery put the Rebels into a four-point lead, 1-3 to 0-2. Limerick hung on however, and at half-time there was just three points between the sides, 1-6 to 0-6.
Half-time subsitute Cathal Vaughan extended their lead early in the second half, and there was no looking back for Cork from there. Limerick tried hard and kicked some excellent points, but despite a number of missed chances, Cork were dominant and Brian Hurley's goal in the fifty-eighth minute sealed the win for Cork.
They now meet Tipperary in the Munster Final on April 10th at 7.30pm in Thurles.
Cork: David Hanrahan, Brian O'Driscoll, Conor Dorman, Alan Cronin, TJ Brosnan, Damien Cahalane, Jamie Wall, Tom Clancy, Ian Maguire, Alan Cadogan (0-1), Mark Sugrue, John O'Rourke (1-3), Dan MacEoin (0-2, 0-2f), Brian Hurley (1-5, 0-3f), Luke Connolly.

Subs used: Cathal Vaughan
(0-3) for Sugrue, Jamie Burns for Clancy, Seán Kiely for Cadogan, Kevin Crowley
for Cronin, Kevin Hallissey for MacEoin.

U21 B Football Championship

The U21 B footballers made a quick exit from the championship after defeat to Gabrial Rangers in the first round last friday on a bitterly cold night in Castlehaven.
Kilbrittain started brightly with points from Conor Moloney and Jamie Wall inside the first two minutes. Gabrials pointed a minute later. A Declan Harrington shot on goal came back off the post before Gabrials were left through rather easily on goal to score the first major of the game in the seventh minute. Gabrials dominated the next eight or nine minutes but failed to add to their advantage. Ryan Crowley and Harrington leveled matters by the quarter hour mark with two fine points. Gabrials responded with two more points before a Jamie Wall point kept Kilbrittain in touch with eight minutes to the break. Gabrials were quick with their response with two more points before a long delivery by hard working Conor Moloney found Wall who offloaded to Denis Whelton who stuck the ball in the Gabrials net. Ivan Burke put Kilbrittain back in front with time almost up but there was enough time for Gabrials to equalise with a point as the last kick of the half. 1-06 a piece at halftime was a fair reflection of the half with no side dominating for long periods.
The second half proved to be a different game as Gabrials came out of the blocks all guns firing. A point after 30 seconds signalled their intent as two more in the third minute extended their lead. Jamie Wall pointed in the seventh minute which was to be Kilbrittains last score for almost twenty minutes. Kilbrittain failed to clear a poor delivery which led to Gabrials second goal in the tenth minute. Gabrials had two more points by the quarter hour and with Kilbrittain failing to take their limited chances, the writing looked to be on the wall as Gabrials dominated the remainder of the game, however failing themselves to score for another fifteen minutes. In a rare scoring oppurtunity, Ivan Burke pointed a free with six minutes of normal time left. Gabrials had their chances to extend their lead in those last six minutes and added their last point with a minute to go. Chris Hickey found the side netting with Kilbrittains last attack in injury time. Final score read Kilbrittain 1-08 Gabrial Rangers 2-12. Gabrials went on to defeat St James two days later on Sunday in the quarter final.
Kilbrittain lined out as follows,
Ethan O'Mahony, Sean Crowley, Ronan Sheehan, Padraig Sheehan, John Kearney, Nick O'Donovan, James Hurley, Chris Hickey, Conor Moloney 0-1, Jamie Wall 0-3, Ivan Burke 0-2,(0-1 free), Ross Moynihan, Declan Harrington 0-1, Denis Whelton 1-0, Ryan Crowley 0-1, Subs used, Kevin O'Neill.

Mícheal Holland Cup semi-final

Kilbrittain were comforatble winners over Clonakilty last night in Clonakilty under lights.Kilbrittain were first to score in the fourth  minute with a Tomas Harrington point quickly followed by another from Ross Cashman. Alan Hayes and Maurice Sexton made it four by the tenth minute. Clonakilty did have their chances in those first ten minutes but were not to trouble the Kilbrittain defence much for the remainer of the half as Kilbrittain took over and showed the difference in grade. Only for their nine wides in the first half the difference would have been huge at the break as they held Clon scoreless while scoring five more through Alan Hayes, 2, David Desmond, Ross cashman and Chris Hickey. Cashman floated over a '65 immediately after the resumption. Two minutes later a long Clon ball into the square was not dealt with and ended up in the Kilbrittain net. This gave Clon a confidence boost as they added apoint minutes later. However, this mishap led to kilbrittain upping the ante and with Vincent O'Brien and James Deasy taking control in the halfback line, Kilbrittain stamped their authority holding Clon to one more point for the game while adding 1-6 themselves. Deasy chipped in with 2 points, Hayes added 2, one from a free, Maurice Sexton knocked over a free while Denis Murphy who started at corner back, was replaced at half time and returned as a corner forward, goaled from close range in the twenthieth minute following a Sexton delivery which came off the post. It was a strange last ten minutes then as Kilbrittain took their foot off the gas a little while clocking up a few wides. Murphy was on hand in the end to point with time up leaving the final score Kilbrittain 1-16 Clonakilty 1-02. Kilbrittain now await the winners of Newcestown and Bandon which should be this coming weekend with the final penciled in for St
