This game also doubled up as the second annual Sean Holland memorial cup tournament game between the sides. Kilbrittain were short a couple of regular players for various reasons and it showed as the game wore on. A physically bigger Courcey side took control early on and were 1-3 up before Philip Wall opened Kilbrittains account with a point in the fourteenth minute. Prior to this, impressive Kilbrittain goalkeeper Eoghan Galvin kept Courcies at bay with a fine reflex save from a point blank shot from Cork u17 Sean Twomey. Kilbrittain found it hard to create scores and relied on Bertie Butler's free taking to stay in touch. At half time Courcies lead 1-9 to 0-4. It didn't get any better for Kilbrittain in the second half as a second Courcey goal as early as the second minute of the half really made it a mountain to climb for Kilbrittain. Mark Hickey and Philip Wall contributed the next three points and Galvin brought off another fine save, but Courcies took control again and with a third goal late in the game took the cup from the holders.

MATCH REPORT - League final
Sunday morning last, minor B football divisional champions Kilbrittain travelled to breezy Castletownkenneigh where they met Ahane Gaels in the Rebel Og West league final.
Kilbrittain started with the stiff breeze and were first on the scoreboard with a fine point from Bertie Butler in the third minute. The same player added a second moments later before Joseph O'Driscoll opened the account for Ahan. Impressive Ryan Scannell added a second for Ahan from a free followed quickly by a point from Kilbrittains Kieran Murphy. Philip Wall kicked a fine point before the lively Conor Hogan breached the Ahan backline and fired low to the net for the opening goal in the twelfth minute. Kilbrittain were playing the better football at this stage with Ahan relying on the free taking of Scannell to keep in touch. Butler and Mark Hickey kicked two more points for Kilbrittain followed by a pointed free from Scannell. Cian Buttimer ended a fine move from Ahan with a point before Scannell kicked a fine free from a tight angle. Conor Hogan who was a handful for the Ahan backline throughout, finished the half with a fine point to leave the halftime score Kilbrittain 1-7 Ahan Gaels 0-5.
Kilbrittain attacked from the throw in to the second half and didn't have long to wait as Mark Hickey finished a fine move as he sprinted from the left wing and finished a bullet of a shot across the face of goal inside the far post for a brilliant goal within two minutes of the restart. Ahan, now playing with the wind, started to take control and with Aaron Draper creating inroads through the Kilbrittain defence and Scannell unerring from frees, reduced the deficit to four points by the three quarter stage. Kilbrittain weathered the storm however and took back control for the last quarter. Kicking into the strong breeze proved difficult with four or five point chances going astray, but Kilbrittains eye for goal proved fruitful. Bertie Butler brought a great save from Ahan's Oisin O'Leary but moments later Colm Sheehan was put through by a fine pass from Aaron Holland to shoot low to the net for Kilbrittains third goal. That deflated the challenge from Ahan. O'Leary was forced into another fine save from Butler and with Philip Wall adding a point in the dying moments, Kilbrittain added the league title to the championship they won a few weeks ago. O'Leary, Draper, Curtin, Scannell and O'Driscoll were prominent for Ahan while Kilbrittain had many who caught the eye with Sam Dewey in command throughout, and James O'Donovan, Padraig Galvin, Holland Butler and Hogan all making huge contributions. Fergal Keohane representing Rebel Og West presented the league plaque to captain Sam Dewey and wished Kilbrittain every success in the upcoming county semi-final. Non Exam League Final:
Four first half goals paved the way for an emphatic fourteen point win for Courcey rovers over neighbours Kilbrittain in this Minor Hurling non-exam league, group 2, 13-a-side final played in Timoleague in perfect conditions on Friday night last. Cork minor Sean Twomey operating in the forward line bagged two, one in each half, his first in the first minute in response to Kilbrittain’s opening score, a point from Bertie Butler from a free. Impressive Aidan O’Donovan, who finished with 2-10 and Stan Russell both raised green flags within minutes of each other to give Courcies a halftime cushion of thirteen points.
The second half was a much more even affair as Kilbrittain closed down the space they allowed Courcies in the first half. Kilbrittain tried to turn the tide but the physically stronger Courcies side never looked like losing and were full value for the win.
The game opened in a welter of action with those afore mentioned early scores followed by points from Richard Sweetnam and two from Aidan O’Donovan, the second one of the scores of the game as he controlled the sliothar with one touch and hit it over from close range. Kilbrittain responded immediately with a fine goal from impressive Philip Wall after a good pass from Butler. Courcies responded with three points, two from O’Donovan before another fine move from Kilbrittain that saw Philip Wall cut in from the left and offload to an unmarked Ciaran Murphy who turned to face an empty goal but his shot came back of the butt of the post and was cleared. O’Donovan pointed a free for Courcies and Butler hit two for Kilbrittain. In the 18th minute, the Kilbrittain defence failed to clear an innocent ball and Sean Twomey ushered the ball to the net. A minute later, a speculative shot from out by the side-line, from Aidan O’Donovan sailed all the way to the net deceiving the Kilbrittain defence. Kilbrittain replied almost immediately as Philip Wall gathered on the 21metre line and ran through two defenders for a fine goal. Just when you caught your breath, Courcies came looking again and some poor Kilbrittain defending allowed Stan Russell to billow the Kilbrittain net. Four goals in as many minutes the score now read 4-7 to 2-3 with eight minutes to the break. Courcies were buoyed by the goals and with their tails up hit points from all angles, two from O’Donovan, and a point each from Twomey and Russell. Kilbrittain did manage a point from Butler in injury time to leave it 4-11 to 2-4 at the halftime break.
Twomey hit a point right from the restart. Kilbrittain responded with a well taken goal from Philip Wall in the 33rd minute and Bertie Butler added a point in the 36th. In the meantime, Stan Russell saw a fine effort rebound off the crossbar, and then a minute later Richard Sweetnam bore down on goal and was fouled in the small square. Aidan O’Donovan sent the resultant penalty low to Cathal O’Sullivans right and into the net to finish the game as a contest. Courceys added points from O’Donovan, two and a lovely point from Brendan Ryan who also had a fine game. With 50 minutes on the clock, Kilbrittain mounted a mini revival with four points in quick succession from Butler, two, the hardworking Aaron Holland and Wall one each. Courcies regained control as the game petered out and added two more points from Ross O’Donovan from a ’65 and Aidan O’Donovan from a free. It finished Courcey Rovers 5-17 Kilbrittain 3-9.
