Carbery final of Scór na bPáistí
Our Ballad Group who had impressed in the semi-final in Lisavaird, were in action again last night in Rossmore in the Carbery finals.
Sinead Gillian, Aaron Holland, Kieran Murphy (guitar) & Claire Collins sang 'Ó ro sé do bheath abhaile' and 'Isle of hope'. Again they performed very well and in their first year of competition had acheived alot by reaching the Carbery finals. They were narrowly beaten, ("a toss of a coin"), into third place on the night. This was a great result up against clubs that regularly take part in Scór and bodes well for future participation in the competition.
Well done to all involved including Cultural Officer Noreen O'Brien who spearheaded our participation this year.

Scór Sinsear County semi-finalWell done to those who took part in Scór Sinsear county semi-final last night (saturday 16th February) in Eire Og pavilliion, Ovens. The club took part in Insrumemtal music, and Quiz. Declan
Flynn and James moloney performed very well, with Declan on the banjo and James on guitar. This was their first time participating in this kind of environment as they are more used to playing in a session type setting. However the experience will stand to them and we hope to see them available again for next years competition. The quiz team consisted of Oliver O'Brien, Niall Crowley and Ted Moloney. The team on paper looked very experienced in competitive quizzing, however, the questions did not fall right for the lads and while they knew answers to the other teams questions, the majority of questions that fell their way were very difficult in comparison! Despite not qualifying for the county final, it was good to see the club participating in Scór Sinsear again after many years. Well done to all and thanks to our Cultural Officer, Noreen O'Brien for all her good work in getting the club back onto the Scór scene. The next event to look forward to is the Carbery final of Scór na bPáistí when our Ballad group are performing. This is on friday 1st March in Rossmore. |

Scór na nÓg 2012 Carbery finals.
The finals of the Carbery Scór na nÓg took place recently in Rossmore.
Kilbrittain GAA were represented for the first time in many years.
Emily Collins performed in the solo singing section. Emily sang 'Katie' from Mary Black. Unfortunately Emily was not chosen on the night despite a ood performance.
A quiz team of Gerard Whelton, Dylan Twohig and Evan O'Donovan also took part on the night.
Up against six other clubs, they had a great last round getting five out of six questions correct to force a tie-break with Carbery Rangers ladies football team. Unfortunately they were beaten in the tie-break as the ladies got all the three questions correct.
Overall it was a great occasion for those involved and for the club to be represented again at Scór. A huge thank you must be given to the club Cultural Officer Noreen O'Brien who has shown huge interest in Scór and the officership of Cultural Officer. Thanks also to those who travelled to Rossmore on the night in support of Emily and the lads. While that was the end of Scór na nÓg from a Kilbrittain point of view for this year, Scór Sinsear and Scór na bPaisti will be taking place early in the new year. We wish all who will take part the very best of luck.
