... basically a sub-standard first round tie..... while to a certain extent the blustery wind did little to enhance the standard of football, it cannot in all instances be blamed for the stop-start nature of play, the general shooting malaise that affected both team, particularly the Haven who, despite showing lovely touches at times, failed miserably to deliver when they reached the final third of the pitch, and bar scoring two superb second half gols that effectively decided the outcome, a below par Kilbrittain fared little better.
Kilbrittain Junior A footballers open their championship campaign today against Castlehaven in Ahiohill at 3pm. Both teams met at the same stage in 2012 with the game played in Ballineen. Described in the 'Southern Star' report that followed, The team on that day were without the services of Jamie Wall and Pat O'Mahony who were both injured at the time. While they will be a boost to Kilbrittain today, Kilbrittain will be without Paddy Ryan from last year. Kilbrittain's league form in 2013 suggests they should perform confidently as they are unbeaten. However, it is section 3 league so alot cannot be read into that. It is good to see the league being taken more seriously though and the games played thus far should stand to the lads as they face the Haven's second string today. Throw in is at 3pm.
