Kilbrittain 2-14 Carrigaline 2-18
Kilbrittain intermediate hurlers got their league campaign off the a shaky start with a defeat to Carrigaline earlier today. Kilbrittain lead early on 1-4 to no score but it was 1-7 to 0-5 at half time. Carrigaline got a dream re-start with a goal within thirty seconds. They scored five more points to Kilbrittains two before Alan Hayes finished a good move for Kilbrittains second goal to make it 2-9 to 1-10. Both side swapped four points each before a scrappy second goal for Carrigaline put them ahead by one. They kept that lead and finished strong with four more points to Kilbrittains one to win on a 2-18 to 2-14 scoreline. Kilbrittain lost Declan Harrington to injury just before halftime. An injury that required Declan to be taken by ambulance to hospital as a precaution. We wish Declan a speedy recovery. Kilbrittain U21 C footballers got their defence of the title of to a shaky start earlier today when they were defeated by last years finalists St James 1-6 to 2-8 in Ballinascarthy. St James got the dream start with a goal in the 2nd minute and lead for all the first half. Kilbrittain did however bring it back to a point at halftime 1-3 to 1-4. St James had the better of the opening exchanges in the 2nd half and had added 3 points by the tenth minute. Kilbrittain enjoyed their best period of the second half over the next ten but St James finished strong and with their second goal with 11 minutes to go, they put the game beyond Kilbrittains reach. Final score kilbrittain 1-6 St James 2-8. Kilbrittain will now meet Muintir Bhaire in the losers round next weekend. Muintir Bhaire were beaten by St Colums 2-11 to 1-7.

That's a new record of sorts! Louis is the second Kilbrittain player to represent a country after his brother Owen played for Ireland in the International Compromise rules in 2000! The inaugural World Gaelic Games Championships take place in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
Team from the USA, Australia, Argentina, Japan and South Africa are all competing, while Europe will be represented by 2014 European Championship winners Belgium GAA.
